The Supermarine Spitfire was designed and developed in Southampton, evolving from the Schneider trophy-winning seaplanes of the 1920s and 1930s. From Southampton Central Station WESTERN ESPLANADE exit walk diagonally right across the car park and up the flight of steps to turn right. Turn right again to cross over the railway bridge. Walk on into Shirley Road and you will reach the Osbourne on your left.
