Shoreditch is a district in the East End of London, within the London Borough of Hackney, in England. It is a built-up part of the inner city immediately to the north of the City of London, located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east-northeast of Charing Cross.

The Carpenters’ Arms in was once the most notorious pub in London – owned by the gangster twins, Reggie and Ronnie Kray who bought it in 1967 for their mother Violet. They grew up in house just a hundred yard away at 178 Vallance Road.

Recently re-opened this spacious free house has a large range of ales and craft beers plus good food. Central bar with lots of seating.

Turn right out of the Well and Bucket and walk on the same side of the road, crossing Brick Lane and then turning right into Redchurch Street. At the crossroads turn right into Club Row to soon reach Arnold Circus. Turn left and walk round to the third exit, Calvert Avenue. When you reach Shoreditch High Street turn left and then right into Rivington Street.

Cross the road (Curtain Road) and continue along Rivington Street until you reach Great Eastern Street. Turn right and then cross over to Pitfield Street. Turn Left into Charles Square and follow the road round a right bend to then turn left into Brunswick Place.
